- The Counselor I at Behavioral Health Services Inc is responsible for providing direct counseling services to clients, supporting their mental health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients' mental health needs and promote positive behavioral change.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients' needs, goals, and progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and provide holistic support to clients.
- Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed, offering immediate support and guidance to clients in distress.
- Educate clients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the field of behavioral health and incorporate evidence-based practices into counseling sessions.
- Assist in the development and delivery of community outreach programs to raise awareness about mental health and available services.
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications Required Education:
- Counseling certification.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a counseling or mental health setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
- Familiarity with behavioral health services and therapeutic practices.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Proficient in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in counseling practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant software applications.
