Transitional Residential Treatment Program Full-Time | Benefits Eligible Join Our Mission Changing Options SD is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and recovery-oriented Mental Health Clinician I to join our Transitional Residential Treatment (TRT) Program serving adults living with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals on their journey toward recovery, independent living, and community reintegration within a collaborative, multidisciplinary treatment environment. Position Summary The Mental Health Clinician I provides direct clinical and rehabilitative services to clients participating in our residential treatment program. Under the supervision of the licensed Program Director, the clinician delivers evidence-based interventions, coordinates care, and supports clients in achieving individualized recovery goals. This role is an integral part of a collaborative treatment team focused on holistic, client-centered care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide individual therapy and counseling services utilizing recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices. Facilitate psychoeducational, therapeutic, and recovery-focused group sessions. Conduct ongoing assessments and complete individualized treatment plans. Provide case management services, including coordination of community resources and benefits. Develop and implement discharge plans that support successful transition to lower levels of care and independent community living. Respond to client crises and provide crisis intervention services as needed. Conduct family therapy and family support sessions to strengthen recovery outcomes and support systems. Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, peer support staff, and other treatment team members. Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, county, state, and federal requirements. Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement activities. Advocate for clients and support self-determination, recovery, and wellness. Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Licensed Clinician or Registered Associate (ASW, AMFT, APCC) with CA BBS. Experience working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders preferred. Knowledge of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive treatment approaches. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurability according to agency requirements. Must pass a physical exam and TB test Ability to pass criminal/background clearance Preferred Qualifications 1-2 years of experience working with adults with serious mental illness in residential treatment, crisis stabilization, or community mental health settings. Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation requirements and behavioral health regulations. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
