$96,000-106,000 DOE and licensure The Harm Reduction Therapy Center (HRTC) is seeking a masters- or PhD/PsyD therapist to work with low income, often homeless adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in our Community Programs. HRTC's therapists work with clients at a variety of program sites, including community clinics, at street-based mobile sites, at other CBO drop-in centers and syringe exchange programs. We are flexible and do our best to work with people "where they are at" as they move around in an effort to stay safe and healthy. Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, collaboration with both colleagues and clients, a high level of ability to work independently and seek out support as needed, and a social justice perspective are important characteristics of work at HRTC. Harm Reduction Therapy Center HRTC is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering Harm Reduction Therapy to diverse substance users with co-occurring mental health disorders. Harm Reduction Therapy incorporates the public health principles of harm reduction and cognitive-behavioral approaches to change in a psychodynamic therapy model. We work with any and all issues facing each individual, in order of their priorities. We help clients discover their goals and plan realistic steps to achieve them. HRTC has an enthusiastic and diverse team of therapists grounded in the principles of harm reduction and harm reduction therapy, knowledgeable about how drugs interact with mental health, and flexible enough to respond to difficult behaviors and crises while maintaining our stance of radical inclusion. At community-based organizations (Hospitality House, Homeless Youth Alliance, Navigation Centers), in our street-based mobile programs and our own low-barrier mental health drop-in center, HRTC therapists provide individual, family, and group harm reduction therapy, crisis management, and clinical case management to active substance users, many of whom are homeless. We have several clinical partners, chief among them the San Francisco Department of Public Health Street Medicine and Shelter Health team. In addition to the opportunity to learn and practice harm reduction therapy with diverse clients, HRTC offers therapists 4 hours per week of individual and group supervision and training. Duties and Responsibilities

• Engage potential clients "where they are at", introducing them to Harm Reduction, Mental Health and Substance Misuse services at a pace dictated by each individual
• Provide individual, family, and group harm reduction therapy - on a drop-in basis and by appointment - either on the streets, at our center, or in other community-based locations operated by our program partners
• Provide sidewalk therapy
• Crisis intervention and 5150 evaluations
• Clinical case management as needed (we often work alongside case managers from partner agencies)
• Advocacy (court reports, benefits advocacy, emotional support animal letters, etc.)
• Assist outside-agency partner staff with difficult situations and provide real-time clinical consultation regarding complicated situations
• Handle site-specific logistics, which may include driving agency vehicles
• Keep client records in HRTC's electronic database in accordance with the laws and ethics of the State of California and the professions of Psychology, Social Work, and Marriage and Family Therapy
• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with the laws and ethics of the State of California
• Report administrative issues to supervisor or to Clinical or Program Director
• Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, and case conferences
• Meet all licensing board requirements and maintain clinical licensure
• Attend all HRTC events and fundraisers
• Other duties, as assigned

Supervision:

May be asked, when ready and eligible, to supervise students and HRTC license-eligible staff as part of clinical duties. Education, Experience and Skills

• Masters' degree or higher in a mental health discipline
• Three (3) or more years' full-time job experience providing mental health or case management services to people with co-occurring disorders
• At least one (1) year of full-time job experience providing individual and/or group therapy services
• Trauma-informed practice with a high degree of cultural humility
• Knowledge of harm reduction, healthy curiosity about drug use, knowledge and experience with co-occurring disorders, and strong desire to practice harm reduction therapy
• Flexibility to meet changing needs of clients and programs
• Ability to meet clients in all mental and emotional states with kindness and a spirit of generosity
• Comfort working in multi-disciplinary teams that includes non-clinical staff and community members
• Comfort working in a drop-in environment and on the streets; able to provide treatment on demand in a variety of settings
• Ability to carry out responsibilities independently, to coordinate with teammates, and know when to consult with supervisor
• Highly organized; able to create and maintain systems for workload management and record-keeping
• Ability to transport self to multiple sites, if needed
• current CADL preferred
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
• Bilingual English/Spanish, English/Cantonese or ASL preferred.

Hours per week and schedule : 40 hours, Monday through Friday, schedule dependent on program needs. May include some evening hours.

Salary and Benefits :
