In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling, facilitate group therapy sessions, and support clients on their journey to recovery. Your expertise will help individuals with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions, achieve lasting wellness through evidence-based practices and compassionate care. Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments, including intake interviews, diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria, and ongoing progress monitoring to tailor treatment plans effectively. Facilitate group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to promote behavioral change. Develop and implement personalized treatment strategies that incorporate addiction medicine principles, trauma-informed care, and mental health counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management systems). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, discharge planning, and community resource linkage to ensure comprehensive patient care. Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management when necessary, providing immediate support during mental health or behavioral emergencies. Educate clients on relapse prevention, coping skills, and behavioral management techniques to foster long-term recovery success. Experience Proven experience working with individuals who have substance use disorders, including familiarity with addiction counseling methodologies. Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and client communication strategies. Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations using DSM-5 criteria and performing client assessments in various settings such as hospitals or community clinics. Knowledge of behavioral health practices including trauma-informed care, PTSD care, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and crisis intervention techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, EMR/EHR systems, CPT coding, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds while adhering to clinical documentation standards. Demonstrated skills in case management, group facilitation, social work practices, and working within mental health and behavioral care frameworks.
