00 per hour Bright Life Detox & Recovery is a 6-bed residential detox and recovery facility in Simi Valley seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about recovery and committed to providing respectful, client-centered support to individuals working toward a healthier, substance-free life. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling/support within scope of practice Facilitate recovery-focused and educational groups Participate in treatment and discharge planning Complete progress notes and other required documentation accurately and on time Monitor resident progress and communicate concerns to the appropriate team members Provide crisis intervention and emotional support as appropriate Maintain resident confidentiality and professional boundaries Collaborate with nursing, medical, recovery support, and administrative staff Follow Bright Life policies, procedures, and applicable DHCS requirements Qualifications Current SUD counselor certification or registration through an applicable California-recognized certifying organization Experience in detox, residential treatment, behavioral health, or substance-use treatment preferred Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal, recovery principles, and relapse prevention Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain as required Must meet applicable background screening, health clearance, and onboarding requirements
