A Mental or Behavioral Health Counselor works with patients to treat mental health problems. Assesses patients and assists with diagnosis, counseling and crisis intervention. Consults with nurses, doctors and psychiatrists. May work with specific populations, such as youth, senior citizens or substance abusers, in group settings, facilities or hospitals.
The Licensed Therapist is responsible for providing confidential addictions and/or mental health counseling, education and support to individuals, families, and the community, promoting healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Licensed Therapist will provide clinical services including, but not limited to, assessment, group, individual, family sessions and other client care services. The Licensed Therapist is responsible for managing a primary case load, facilitating primary group, and leading other therapeutic behavioral health efforts as designated by the Clinical Director. The Licensed Therapist will also be required to participate in the Baker Act on-call schedule rotation.
Essential Job Functions:
Assesses clients using the standardized or evidence-based assessment tools for substance abuse such as the DSM 5 Manages a Primary Case Load Meets Compliance criteria and completes all work within designated timeframes Facilitation of Process Group and other therapeutic groups Reviews and analyzes previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode Collaborates with the client to develop a written treatment plan that is client-centered and recovery oriented and includes goals and measurable objectives Provides substance abuse counseling services specified in the client treatment plan Review of clients throughout the treatment episode according to the ASAM Placement Criteria, to determine the need for continued services or discharge/transfer Reviews and, where necessary, revising the substance abuse counseling portion of the client treatment plan to address emerging problems Develops the client discharge/transfer plans to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care Contacts referral sources, providing case consultation and coordination with referral sources (for example: mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, the Youth and Family Services) Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients Provides active case consultation Documents all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals, and follow-up in the client's clinical record, providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records Acts as first point of contact for clients, counselors, and office staff when the Clinical Director is unavailable Knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders and associated co-morbidities Knowledge of substances commonly used in addition to their bio psychosocial impact Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery program and process Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State and Regional regulations, including Accreditation standards that govern treatment of Substance Use Disorders including confidentiality, patient rights, ethics, and discrimination Assists with AMA/ACA (Against Clinical Advice) blocking and client management Maintains all licenses and certifications as required of the position Treats others with respect, inspire trust in your work, and uphold organization mission, values, and vision Complete all tasks with concern for work quality Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with our privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with Company policies and procedures on patient privacy, may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. May access protected health information (PHI) and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific patient information in their possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment. Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding Company policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to management.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
