Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic practices. Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with various mental and emotional disorders. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or coordinate treatment, drawing on social and medical services as needed. Maintain confidentiality and records of therapy sessions in compliance with applicable legal and ethical codes. Participate in continuing education, workshops, or seminars to stay current with new developments in psychology and therapy practices. Help patients develop skills and behaviors necessary to recover from their disorders or to modify their behavior to cope more effectively with their situations.
