Position Summary As a School-Based Counselor, you will provide individual and group counseling services to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, or mental health challenges. Working collaboratively with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams, you'll help students develop coping strategies, improve social-emotional skills, and overcome barriers that impact their academic success and overall well-being. This position offers the opportunity to work with students across a variety of grade levels and educational settings. What You'll Do Provide individual and group counseling services to students based on identified needs. Conduct assessments and develop intervention strategies that support students' emotional, behavioral, and social development. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student success. Participate in student support meetings, problem-solving teams, and other collaborative planning meetings as appropriate. Develop and implement evidence-based interventions that promote positive mental health and emotional wellness. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Support crisis intervention and provide appropriate referrals to community resources when necessary. Foster positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel. Maintain compliance with all ethical, professional, and licensing standards. Qualifications Required Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, or a related counseling field from an accredited institution. Current Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in good standing. Florida Department of Education School Counselor Certification (Grades PK-12), or eligibility for certification with a valid Statement of Eligibility. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to providing compassionate, student-centered care. Preferred Previous experience providing counseling services in a school setting. Experience working with children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with MTSS, behavioral interventions, and school-based mental health services. Knowledge of Florida educational practices and student support services.
