CSAC Preferred Position Summary:
Care Hawaii is a behavioral health care organization seeking a compassionate and dependable Counselor to support the daily functions of CAREs provision of services. The primary duty of the Counselor is to develop, initiate and implement the treatment plans for consumers.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Counselors are State Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC) with a high school degree, or hold an advanced degree in behavioral health services from a nationally accredited college or university with a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in a similar field. Non-CSAC and non-master's level providers are directly supervised by a CSAC or master's level counselor and are working towards certification.
Minimum Experience:
Counselor will be trained in the provision of treatment to individuals with substance abuse and co-occurring mental disorders. Preferred 1 ½ years of specialized experience working with individuals with mental illness.
Required Certification/Registration:
CPR and First Aid TB (2 step upon hire and then annually thereafter)
Background Check CPI Duties and Responsibilities:
Screening to determine if the client is appropriate and eligible for admission Initial assessment procedures for admission to a program Orientation to describe to the client the general nature and goals of the program, rules and client obligations and rights Assessment to identify and evaluate a client's strengths, weaknesses, problems and needs for the development of a treatment plan Tracking, requesting, and follow through on authorization for services ensuring admission, continued stay, and discharges are received Treatment planning consisting of explaining assessment results to the client, identifying problems, and formulating treatment methods Counseling clients on utilizing special skills Coordinate services for client Recognize the elements of a client crisis and implement and immediate course of action Present relevant alcohol and other drug use /abuse information to the client through formal and/or informal processes Referral to assist clients to utilize community resources that are available
