Overview Join our dynamic mental health team as a Mental Health Counselor or Psychologist, where you'll play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychological support and therapy to diverse populations. We are looking to expand to Altoona, Iowa and are looking to build our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize evidence-based practices, including psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused therapy, to help individuals overcome mental health challenges. You will work closely with clients across outpatient, inpatient, and telehealth settings, ensuring they receive compassionate, personalized care that promotes recovery and resilience. Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to develop tailored treatment plans (If a psychologist). Provide individual, group, family, and youth therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and trauma-focused approaches. Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to support clients experiencing acute mental health episodes or co-occurring disorders. Facilitate intake procedures, medical documentation, and clinical documentation standards within electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Deliver specialized services including grief counseling, addiction counseling, PTSD care, behavior management, and behavior therapy for clients with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on treatment planning, case management, and clinical research initiatives to optimize patient care outcomes. Engage in telehealth therapy sessions utilizing telehealth platforms to expand access to mental health services across diverse populations. Skills Proven expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and/or applied behavior analysis (ABA). Strong experience working with children, youth, individuals with disabilities—including autism—and those with co-occurring disorders or chronic pain conditions. Skilled in crisis intervention techniques, crisis management protocols, and social work principles for effective client support. Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation; familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes. Excellent clinical documentation skills adhering to medical records standards; proficient in EMR/EHR systems. Ability to conduct mental health assessments and treatment planning aligned with clinical ethical guidelines and HIPAA regulations. Experience delivering telehealth services with a focus on patient care continuity across inpatient and outpatient settings. Strong communication skills for client engagement and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams; sensitivity to gender issues counseling and special education needs is a plus.
