CIT ( Counselor in Training) CIT certification required through LAADRA Freedom Recovery, LLC. - 2.8 Bossier City, LA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $19 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification Addiction counseling First Aid Certification Organizational skills Clinical counseling Full Job Description Freedom Recovery is seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our clinical team as Counselors in Training (CITs) . This paid position is designed for individuals who are working toward professional credentials in the substance use disorder and behavioral health field and who are passionate about helping adults build healthier, more stable lives. As a CIT, you will work under appropriate clinical supervision and support licensed and credentialed staff in providing services to adults receiving treatment for substance use disorders and related behavioral health needs. This position offers hands-on experience in treatment programming, group support, documentation, client engagement, recovery education, and behavioral health services while allowing the CIT to continue developing professionally within the requirements of Louisiana law, LDH regulations, and applicable credentialing standards. Candidates should hold or be actively maintaining a valid Counselor in Training credential through the Louisiana Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (LAADRA) , as applicable to the position. Duties Assist licensed and credentialed clinical staff in providing services to adult clients receiving substance use disorder treatment. Support the delivery of structured groups, recovery education, life-skills programming, and other approved treatment activities. Assist with client engagement, orientation, and ongoing support throughout the treatment process. Encourage appropriate behavior, accountability, recovery participation, and respectful interaction among clients. Assist with documenting client participation, progress, observations, and other required information in accordance with Facility policy. Participate in treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, staff meetings, and training as required. Help clients identify recovery goals and develop healthy coping, communication, and life-management skills. Support relapse-prevention education, recovery planning, and discharge preparation under appropriate supervision. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients at all times. Follow all confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Immediately report client safety concerns, changes in behavior, suspected substance use, suicidal statements, medical concerns, or other significant issues to appropriate clinical staff. Assist staff in maintaining a safe, structured, respectful, and recovery-focused treatment environment. Complete required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes. Participate in ongoing education, supervision, and professional development required for the CIT credential. Follow Freedom Recovery policies, Louisiana Department of Health requirements, and applicable professional and ethical standards. Skills and Qualifications Current LAADRA Counselor in Training (CIT) credential , or eligibility to obtain and maintain the required credential. Genuine interest in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, and adult recovery services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish appropriate professional relationships with adult clients while maintaining clear boundaries. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate with clients in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or emotionally charged situations. Ability to accept clinical supervision, feedback, and direction. Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation requirements. Understanding of confidentiality and client privacy requirements. Knowledge of recovery principles, relapse prevention, motivational techniques, or behavioral health treatment is preferred. Previous experience in substance use treatment, behavioral health, peer support, social services, or recovery services is a plus. CPR/First Aid certification may be required or obtained following hire.
