Freedom Recovery is proud to expand its footprint in Bossier City with a dedicated Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to individuals navigating substance use recovery. Our Bossier IOP is part of a growing network of services committed to transforming lives through compassion, structure, and clinical excellence. We're looking for a driven, purpose-filled Counselor in Training (CIT) to join our team and grow into a future leader in the behavioral health field.
Position Summary:
The CIT plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team and clients throughout the recovery process. Under the direct supervision of licensed clinicians, the CIT will assist in delivering therapeutic services, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for clients. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone actively pursuing licensure in addiction counseling and eager to gain real-world experience in a fast-paced, client-centered setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in facilitating group therapy sessions and psychoeducational classes under supervision Conduct client intakes, assessments, and progress updates with oversight Support clients in developing and following individualized treatment plans Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with Medicaid and state guidelines Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning Provide crisis support and de-escalation when needed Uphold ethical standards and maintain strict client confidentiality Engage in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development activities Contribute to a positive, recovery-focused environment that promotes dignity and respect
Minimum Qualifications:
Active CIT registration with the Louisiana Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA) High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, or related field (preferred) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team Familiarity with substance use disorders, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care Basic proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an IOP or outpatient behavioral health setting Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and Medicaid documentation standards Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/French Creole) is a plus
