Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Addiction Counselor with licensure as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LAC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), MSW (Master of Social Work), CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor), RAC (Registered Addiction Counselor), or CIT (Certified Interventionist). In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive behavioral health and addiction treatment services, supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. Your expertise will help clients develop coping skills, achieve their recovery goals, and improve overall well-being through evidence-based practices. We have an LPC Supervisor on staff as well as a CCS for those getting their LAC, RAC or CAC certification. Duties Conduct thorough client assessments to determine needs, strengths, and treatment plans in accordance with DSM-5 diagnostic standards and ICD coding systems. Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing to foster positive behavioral change. Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health or substance use crises effectively while ensuring client safety. Facilitate psychoeducation on addiction medicine, mental health conditions, and relapse prevention techniques tailored to diverse cultural backgrounds. Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to medical documentation standards, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality protocols within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including medical professionals, social workers, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to improve treatment outcomes and support evidence-based practice initiatives. Requirements Current licensure as an LPC, LAC, LCSW, MSW, CAC, RAC, or CIT recognized by the appropriate licensing board. (we have a supervisor on staff) Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Strong skills in psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and crisis management techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and clinical documentation standards. Experience working within a behavioral health setting or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for patient care documentation and medical records management. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to perform intake assessments, case management duties, and patient assessments while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards.
