Specialist Just Care Holistic Services Metairie/New Orleans, Louisiana Area Position Type:
Behavioral Health / Community-Based Services PSR Specialists work directly with children, adolescents, adults, and families to help clients develop the skills necessary to improve daily functioning, independence, emotional regulation, social functioning, and successful participation in their homes and communities.
Responsibilities The PSR Specialist will:
Provide individualized Psychosocial Rehabilitation services according to each client's treatment plan. Teach and reinforce coping skills, social skills, communication skills, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. Assist clients with developing independent living and daily functioning skills. Help clients identify and utilize appropriate community resources. Support clients in practicing skills learned in therapy within real-life settings. Work collaboratively with therapists, supervisors, psychiatric providers, families, schools, and other members of the client's treatment team when appropriate. Complete progress notes and other required clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, training, and quality-assurance activities. Follow Medicaid, LDH, agency, and payer requirements for service delivery and documentation. Education Requirements Applicants must meet Louisiana requirements for providing Medicaid-reimbursable PSR services. Candidates with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas are encouraged to apply: Counseling Social Work Psychology Sociology Rehabilitation Services Special Education Early Childhood Education Secondary Education Family and Consumer Sciences Criminal Justice Human Growth and Development Health Sciences Therapeutic Recreation Applicants with a bachelor's degree in another field may also qualify if their degree includes an eligible minor consistent with Louisiana requirements. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, social services, education, rehabilitation, or community-based services. Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or families with behavioral or mental health needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently in community-based settings. Strong documentation and time-management skills. Dependable transportation and ability to travel to client locations when required. Comfortable utilizing electronic health records and completing documentation electronically.
