Addiction and Dependency Division (A&D)

Valid MN Driver's License; current insurance or be insurable is preferred.

Summary:

Will work closely with clinical trainer in various settings in our A&D Division. This position will provide 150 hours of education training toward testing for Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders (UMICAD) Level I Chemical & Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) Certification and provide 300 hours of supervised chemical dependency training required by UMICAD Level I Certification.

Education Requirements and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) is required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Demonstrated interest and/or experience in CD field are required.

Familiarity with: LLBO and Human Service Agencies/Court, Probation and D.O.C Justice Systems.

Sensitivity to the unique needs of Native American cultural values, lifestyles and traditions.

Resourceful, detail oriented and exceptionally well organized.

Good verbal, written communication and customer service skills.

Must have excellent documentation skills as well as report writing. Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word

High degree of professional ethics.

If chemically dependent, must document 1 year of chemical-free sobriety.

Pre-employment and random drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe A&D Positions. Good attendance & punctuality are a must. Native American preference.

Supervisory Duties:
None Duties/Responsibilities:

Under supervision of

A&D Clinical Trainer:

introductory meeting with clients; conducts initial orientation and educates about program requirements, procedures, policies, etc.

Assists in assessing client needs through counselor's intake; identifies family, environmental, social, and legal issues.

Schedules group therapy sessions, facilitates group discussions by providing alternative outlets for individual communication.

Documents and maintains clients' participation and progress using approved charting systems.

Provides referrals to clients on available resources and services within the reservation and surrounding counties.

Assists by providing input of client's discharge summary, summarizing the client's progress through treatment/aftercare and status upon completion.

Functions as liaison between the CD Counselor and client for other systems, such as court, lawyers, probation, etc.

Researches and designs educational presentations to increase understanding and awareness of general issues within the community.

Seeks guidance from supervisor/trainer daily. Seek and participate in all appropriate training/education available to become eligible for chemical dependency counselor certification/licensure.

Comply with all training recommendations of Supervisor and/or Management.

Provide client transportation as needed if able.

Host community recovery meetings

Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.

Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.

Follow the Addictions and Dependency Professional Code of Ethics.

Must comply with the Code of Ethics of Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Must comply with LL GAPP Policies and A&D Program Policies & Procedures. All other related duties as assigned.
