A Mental or Behavioral Health Counselor works with patients to treat mental health problems. Assesses patients and assists with diagnosis, counseling and crisis intervention. Consults with nurses, doctors and psychiatrists. May work with specific populations, such as youth, senior citizens or substance abusers, in group settings, facilities or hospitals.

Role Responsibilities Provide individual, family, and group therapy to youth and their families in a school-based setting - therapy may consist of crisis screening and brief solution-focused psychotherapy Maintain clinical record according to certification standards Provide consultation and education services to local schools and resource officers Participate in clinical supervision, clinical case staff meetings, in-service training, and school-based meetings as requested Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with local schools Participate in student-of-concern meetings and with the Behavioral Health Risk Assessment Teams in your district Complete daily schedule and check alerts in CareLogic in timely manner Participate in quality improvement reviews as requested Maintain a professional code of ethics at all times Adherence to the MTBH Ethical Code of Conduct and all policies is required.
