Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems, to determine the severity of addiction and mental health issues. Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis techniques. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction medicine, mental health counseling, and behavioral health strategies. Implement crisis intervention protocols to manage acute situations effectively while ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including case management, social work, hospital staff, and community providers to ensure holistic patient care. Maintain accurate medical documentation, records, and notes in accordance with healthcare standards and CPT coding requirements for billing purposes. Lead educational sessions on topics such as PTSD care, substance use disorders, behavior management, and relapse prevention strategies. Requirements Valid state licensure as an Addiction Counselor or equivalent certification demonstrating clinical expertise in addiction medicine. Proficiency in patient assessment techniques and diagnostic evaluation tools for behavioral health conditions. Skilled in delivering individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and social work principles. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations including children & families when necessary.
