Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and are committed to supporting others on their recovery journey. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide guidance, mentorship, and support to individuals navigating behavioral health systems, fostering an environment of hope and empowerment. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and resilience. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help clients set and achieve personal goals related to their mental health or substance use recovery. Assist clients in navigating behavioral health systems, including accessing resources and services for mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and crisis management. Facilitate group sessions that promote peer support, education, and skill-building in areas such as crisis intervention and coping strategies. Collaborate with other professionals in the field of social work and mental health counseling to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in mentoring and crisis intervention. Experience Certification as a Peer Specialist is required. Previous experience in mentoring or providing peer support within behavioral health settings is preferred. Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques and crisis management strategies is highly desirable. Background in social work or mental health counseling is a plus but not mandatory. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds. A commitment to promoting recovery-oriented practices within the community. $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
