Job Description
What We Offer The Bereavement Counselor provides therapy to individuals, groups, and families experiencing grief and loss. The Bereavement Counselor completes patient assessments, plans for therapeutic interventions and appropriate follow up care, implements treatment plans, and coordinates the treatment process. They also demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and cultural diversity of the patients served. As an autonomous provider in the outpatient setting, the therapist is responsible to manage their own schedule, and refer patients as needed to a higher level of care or request consultations.
What We're Looking For Education:
Master's Degree, required. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field with special emphasis in clinical counseling and assessment techniques; required.Experience:
Minimum of one year of counseling experience, required.Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Clinical license LCSW, LMFTA, or LPC or eligible at time of hire. Full licensure obtained within two years. Required.Additional Skills Required:
Possesses demonstrated skills in assessment, group, and individual therapy. Ability to accurately assess for grief-related distress, including but not limited to depression and anxiety. Ability to provide clinical services to a wide range of cultures and levels of employment. Ability to keep accurate and appropriate records. Provide short term, individual, group and family counseling as needed. Ability to perform well in a work environment dependent upon mutual support, a high degree of independence, and a strong team concept. Skilled at presenting to groups and facilitating group interactions. Must be able to manage stress due to highly confidential nature of work. Why Choose Novant Health?
