Responsibilities Offer peer support services rooted in recovery principles, emphasizing hope, empowerment, and shared lived experience. Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and coping strategies using motivational interviewing techniques. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care, document progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems, and track client outcomes. Mentor clients through behavioral health challenges, including mental health counseling and addiction counseling support. Educate clients on available community resources, social services, and support networks to promote independence. Maintain confidentiality while adhering to all policies related to social work practices and privacy regulations. Qualifications Certification as a Peer Support Specialist through the North Carolina Peer Support Board (NCCPSS). Lived experience and current sustained recovery with mental health conditions or substance use recovery that informs compassionate peer support. Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols. Strong understanding of behavioral health topics including mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work principles. Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate client engagement and motivation. Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and communication purposes.
