They ensure the care recipient remains safe and supported, whether in-home or at a facility, allowing caregivers to rest, manage personal matters, or take breaks. Support of these individuals will include a variety of tasks and activities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Parttime Respite Support Professional
Work Schedule:
Schedule 1: Monday
  • Friday 1:30pm
  • 6:30pm (25 hours per week) Schedule 2: Monday
  • Friday 1:30 pm
  • 7:30 pm (30 hours per week)
Location:
Maplewood, NJ at an After School Program Duties & Responsibilities Provide assistance as needed, and as appropriate in activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, changing diapers, feeding, bathing, etc. This may require lifting and transferring in/out of a wheelchair, etc. Meal Preparation
  • the appropriate meal or snack which occurs during the respite session. Recreation
  • providing adaptive games and activities which offer a stimulation and enjoyable experience for the client during respite times.
Follow individual plans of client to meet their objectives. Motivate and introduce clients to new activities in conjunction with goals. Assist in the development of the weekly activity schedules and community-based activities, based on individual preferences, needs, and their respite service plan Work flexible hours depending on family's needs. Documentation Document daily client observations/issues in client/s system, Rethink and, as needed, via email to applicable parties. Any other relevant documentation as required by Supervisor of his/her designee.
Education, Training, and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age Possess a High School Diploma/ GED or higher A minimum of 1 year of experience in working with children/ adolescents, (ages 2-12), and/or adults with special needs Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through a computer, electronic devices, and paper means Must have basic technology skills & maintain access to a mobile device or PC to complete job requirements
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of fingerprinting, criminal history background check. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs. Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, for extended periods of time Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, meal preparation, and dressing Must be able to work various hours and shifts
