Job Description

  • Job Summary:
  • We are looking for a dedicated Counselor Intern specializing in substance use with a focus on mental health to join our team.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and mental health issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and mental health challenges and be committed to helping clients achieve recovery and overall well-being.
  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in substance use counseling or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of addiction treatment principles and mental health interventions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients. Certification or licensure as a counselor is a plus but not required.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for clients dealing with substance use and mental health concerns.
Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's specific needs and goals. Provide education on addiction, mental health, and coping strategies to support clients in their recovery journey. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with regulations.

Ability to remain calm and supportive in crisis situations. Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities in the field of addiction counseling. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate client needs. Familiarity with evidence-based practices in addiction counseling and mental health treatment.
