Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) Christina's Couch Mental Health Counseling - Bay Shore, NY Part-Time or Full-Time | In-Person + Hybrid Opportunities Job Summary Christina's Couch Mental Health Counseling is a growing group private practice located in Bay Shore, NY. We provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and up and accept both private-pay clients and a variety of in-network insurance plans. We are seeking a graduated Mental Health Counselor who is eligible for or currently holds a New York State Limited Permit (MHC-LP) to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a clinician who wants to build their experience in private practice while having referrals, billing, administrative support, and supervision provided. All clinicians must be located in and provide services within New York State. Required In-Person Availability Clinicians must commit to a minimum of 12 clinical hours per week in person at our Bay Shore office . We are specifically seeking someone who can commit to either: Three in-person evenings per week , OR Two in-person evenings per week plus one in-person weekend day Available in-person evening days are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Weekend availability may be: Saturday or Sunday All required evening and weekend hours must be worked in person at our Bay Shore office. Clinicians who would like to build a larger caseload are welcome to add additional virtual/telehealth days outside of their required in-person schedule , based on clinician availability and practice needs. Candidates must be comfortable providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and up . Our practice provides individual psychotherapy only. We do not provide couples counseling or addiction/substance-use treatment. Benefits of Joining Christina's Couch Build your private-practice experience without managing the insurance and administrative burden yourself Consistent referrals to help build a caseload aligned with your professional interests and goals Insurance credentialing and billing services provided Paid biweekly regardless of whether insurance has paid the claim Weekly individual supervision provided for Limited Permit clinicians Optional group supervision and case consultation with our clinical team Annual continuing education (CE) stipend to support ongoing professional development Team-building events and social get-togethers designed to foster connection, collaboration, and fun Assistance with the New York State Limited Permit application process Ability to expand your caseload with additional virtual/telehealth days outside of your required in-person schedule Flexible scheduling outside of required in-person hours Minimal administrative responsibilities Supportive and collaborative group-practice environment Opportunity to develop your clinical interests and areas of specialization Responsibilities Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based and clinically appropriate therapeutic approaches Conduct initial intake and diagnostic evaluations Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans Complete progress notes within 5 business days of the date of service Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client records Provide appropriate case management and care coordination Collaborate with referral sources and other providers when clinically appropriate Connect clients with additional levels of care or community resources when needed Communicate clinical concerns and emergency situations appropriately and promptly Participate in mandatory weekly supervision as required for Limited Permit clinicians Qualifications Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a qualifying related program Must have graduated and be eligible for or currently hold a New York State Mental Health Counselor Limited Permit Able to commit to at least 12 in-person clinical hours per week at our Bay Shore office Availability for three in-person evenings OR two in-person evenings plus one in-person weekend day Comfortable providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults ages 5 and up Professional liability insurance required upon hire Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently while appropriately communicating clinical concerns and emergency situations Familiarity with a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches Reliable, professional, organized, and able to complete documentation within required timeframes Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive clinical team Important Information Please include your email address, cell phone number, and specific evening/weekend availability when applying.
Please note:
The minimum 12 clinical hours and required evening/weekend schedule must be completed in person at our Bay Shore office. Additional virtual days may be added for clinicians interested in building a larger caseload. We do not currently offer employee benefits such as health insurance. We are only able to provide Limited Permit supervision for Mental Health Counselors (MHCs) . We cannot provide required supervision for Social Workers (LMSW/LSW/MSW), Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), psychologists/PhDs, or other license types . This position does not involve couples counseling or addiction/substance-use counseling. Applicants must be willing and comfortable working with clients ages 5 and up . Pay:
$35.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 - 30.0 per week
