Job Description:
The Senior Counselor position provides mental health counseling, clinical consultation, and outreach/prevention programs that address the mental health needs of the SUNY Cobleskill student population. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team at an integrated Health and Counseling Wellness Center. Responsibilities include assessment and evaluation, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, referrals, workshops, presentations, and outreach activities. These positions may at times include consultation, outreach, and/or responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a master degree in counseling, psychology or social work. Licensed in the state of New York to practice Mental Health counseling. At least 1-year experience providing mental health services Competency working with a variety of presenting diagnoses/needs and ability to collaborate with relevant resources Specific experience with crisis assessment, crisis intervention, and risk management Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards. Proven ability to make clinical and ethical decisions in a team-based environment. Develop and facilitate workshops, presentations, prevention programs, and outreach initiatives. Commitment to and interest in working with a diverse student population with a variety of presenting issues as well as the ability to demonstrate multicultural competence. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Computer literacy Preferred Qualifications In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have: 3-year experience providing mental health services Experience utilizing an Electronic Health Record Experience giving presentations and leading group discussions Experience in a University or College Counseling Center setting Training or experience in trauma-informed care.

This is an SL-4 position with a salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 This is a full-time, term, college year position This position offers full New York State benefits which are some of the most comprehensive in the country.
