Clinical Primary Therapist

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital - JDK ClinicPenn Yan, NY

Finger Lakes Health is seeking a Clinical Primary Therapist to join the JDK Clinic at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital. This role provides the opportunity to work directly with individuals and groups to address mental health concerns, support recovery, and help patients develop the skills and resources they need to manage their mental health.

About the Role

The Clinical Primary Therapist provides comprehensive behavioral health services in a supportive, patient-centered environment. The therapist establishes a safe and therapeutic relationship with patients and families while helping develop individualized treatment goals and interventions.

This position is responsible for: Providing individual and group therapy to patients experiencing mental health concerns. Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and gathering information to develop an appropriate clinical formulation. Developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and families. Establishing treatment goals and identifying interventions designed to support recovery and illness management. Creating a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment that promotes patient engagement. Providing ongoing clinical support and behavioral health interventions. Maintaining timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record. Coordinating care with providers, colleagues, and resources throughout the healthcare continuum. Helping patients and families access appropriate treatment and community resources. Participating in the mental health crisis on-call rotation for Finger Lakes Health Emergency Departments, providing crisis evaluations when needed. Promoting patient safety, dignity, respect, and overall well-being. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes. What We're Looking For

We are looking for a dedicated mental health professional who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, compassion, accountability, and the ability to work effectively with patients across the lifespan.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Master's degree in one of the following:
Mental Health Counseling Social Work Nursing Psychology Art Therapy Creative Arts Therapy Licensure:

Current New York State license appropriate to the candidate's discipline, including: NYS Mental Health Counselor license NYS Social Work license NYS Registered Nurse license NYS Creative Arts Therapy license Valid New York State driver's license with a driving record consistent with Finger Lakes Health policy.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mental health or hospital setting. 3 years of mental health experience preferred. Skills & Abilities

Compassionate and professional interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Flexibility and accountability in a clinical environment. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Computer literacy and the ability to learn and use electronic medical records. Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records preferred. A commitment to creating a healing environment based on safety, dignity, respect, and healthy relationships. Patient-Centered Care

Our therapists work with patients across the lifespan. The successful candidate must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, recognizing the developmental and behavioral health needs of each population.
