Our organization offers a flexible 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM work schedule, Monday to Friday, enabling you to integrate your professional and personal life effectively. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of elderly clients, identifying their unique emotional and psychological needs. Provide individualized and group counseling sessions, effectively addressing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and grief related to aging and life changes. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans, incorporating input from clients and their families. Educate clients, families, and staff on effective strategies to enhance mental well-being for seniors, focusing on promoting resilience during transitional phases. Facilitate counseling around issues of grief and loss, offering support to clients and their families as they navigate end-of-life matters. Implement cognitive stimulation activities and innovative mental health interventions that foster mental acuity and engagement in elderly clients. Maintain accurate and concise documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes, adhering to relevant ethical and legal standards. Patient Population / Client Focus The target clientele for this role comprises elderly individuals facing a range of psychological challenges, including those struggling with bereavement, chronic illness, and significant life changes such as retirement or relocation. Our approach emphasizes cultural sensitivity and empathy, ensuring that we respect the diverse backgrounds of our clients. As a counselor, you will play a crucial role in empowering our seniors to cope with adversity and enhance their overall mental health. Qualifications A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution. Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification. A minimum of four years of recent experience specifically in geriatric counseling or in a related mental health support role. Additional training in geriatric mental health, dementia care, or related areas is highly preferred. Strong foundation in evidence-based interventions tailored for elderly populations. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with seniors. Preferred Experience Experience with telehealth platforms and remote counseling practices. Familiarity with tools and methodologies designed to deliver effective group therapy. Understanding of ethical considerations and legal standards specific to geriatric mental health counseling. History of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance client care. Compensation and Benefits Our organization offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000, complementing your valuable contribution to our team.
