We are hiring! Joseph's House & Shelter facilities are open and operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are an award winning community service agency. We provide temporary emergency homeless services to both singles and families, permanent supportive housing, and street outreach in both Albany and Rensselaer Counties. We must be here for our clients; providing shift coverage, support & advocacy, medication assistance, cleaning, serving meals, and maintenance.

• We are actively hiring for Support Staff positions in our Emergency Shelter program. Support Staff positions are to include evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. We are hiring for the following Shelter shifts: 8a-4p 4p-12a

• Duties are varied and involve helping to support tenants and guests in maintaining housing and providing comfort and hospitality to all tenants.

The successful candidate will have:

The ability to be empathetic and work non-judgmentally with individuals coping with various life circumstances, including, homelessness, substance abuse and possible mental health issues; The ability to supervise facility operations during the evening/overnight and weekend shifts; The ability to ensure all shift responsibilities are met, including all necessary cleaning and meal preparation; The ability to exercise the flexibility and assertive communication skills necessary to be part of a team; The ability to remain awake and alert during overnight shifts; The ability to provide crisis intervention services to all guests according to on-call or other program procedures. All candidates applying for this position must have the ability to work a flexible and varied work schedule to include nights and weekends.
