Position:

Provide therapeutic services, crisisintervention, and campus-wide programming through the Office of Counseling Services. Act as an integral member of the StudentAffairs team that provides a program designed to support and enhance student success. Responsibilities Institution wide responsibilities Participate with other membersof the campus community to enhance the students' learning and to promote their well-being at Mount Union. Implementdepartmental objectives, which are consistent with and serve to support the University of Mount Union mission. Serveon institutional committees as requested. Collaborate with student affairs staff and others in coordination withinstitutional efforts regarding retention. Participate in and/or facilitate University compliance training and staffmeetings as communicated by the University, the Vice President of Student Affairs, or the Associate Dean of Students. Functional Areas of Responsibility Provide quality mental healthservices for all graduate and undergraduate students seeking assistance with a wide range of concerns and developmental/transitional issues. Facilitate mental health presentations and skill-building workshops to meet the various needs of the campuscommunity. Develop and implement programs to augment individual client services, such as, but not limited to, supportgroups, training initiatives, campus outreach, etc. Duties Conductindividual/group/consultation counseling sessions using Solution-Focused Therapy or other evidence-based modalities with students who areseeking assistance from counseling services. Maintain client files, treatment plans, and case notes in a timely mannerin accordance with departmental expectations. Work with the director of counseling services to provide outreach andcampus-wide programming. Attend weekly supervision meetings with the director of counselingservices. Share in on-call duty rotation and provide crisis assessment and intervention services asneeded. Participate in training for faculty and staff. Coordinate with University Health Centerand Office of Accessibility Services for necessary referrals. Act as liaison to Residence Life, Dean of Students'Office, Athletics, and a variety of other campus entities to address student issues or concerns as well as for training and programmingneeds that they may identify or request. Make referrals to external agencies and professional services whenappropriate. Complete on-going continuing education and professional development in accordance with recommendations ofaccrediting bodies and credentialing requirements associated with continued licensure. Maintain a supportive officeenvironment which includes an appreciation of diversity, individuality, healthy relationships, open communication, trust, andrespect. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master's degree in clinical counseling, mental health counseling, or college counseling required. Current independentOhio Licensure in Professional Counseling (LPCC) or Social Work (LISW) in good standing required. Minimum of 3 yearsrelevant experience; preferably with young emerging adults, including previous experience in a college or universitysetting. An understanding of the issues facing University students, and experience or training in crisis interventionand suicide prevention. An awareness of the importance of culture, race, gender identity, religion, and disabilitystatus and how they and other dimensions of diversity intersect to impact mental health. Strong clinical, diagnostic,interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability and willingness to provide crisis assessment and intervention duringand outside of scheduled work hours. This is a 12-month full-time position, eligible for all Mount Unionbenefits.
