A Mental or Behavioral Health Counselor works with patients to treat mental health problems. Assesses patients and assists with diagnosis, counseling and crisis intervention. Position Overview We are seeking a Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 to join an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team providing behavioral health services to a caseload of incarcerated individuals with mental health needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with mental health professionals, correctional staff, community agencies, and other members of the treatment team to provide assessment, treatment planning, clinical interventions, case management, documentation, and transition services. Key Responsibilities Provide assigned mental health interventions to a caseload of individuals with mental health needs. Complete mental health screenings, psychosocial needs assessments, treatment assessments, and applicable risk assessments. Complete suicide watch assessments when within the provider's scope of practice, credentialing requirements, and applicable policies. Conduct individual and group clinical interventions in accordance with individualized mental health treatment plans. Provide psychosocial group interventions as prescribed by treatment plans. Serve as a mental health liaison for an assigned caseload and monitor progress toward treatment plan goals. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and collaborate with other members of the treatment team. Complete transfer and discharge summaries and assist with discharge planning. Consult with institutional staff regarding individuals' mental health needs, institutional adjustment, and service requirements. Initiate and maintain appropriate communication with families and community agencies. Provide and obtain information necessary to support appropriate patient care and treatment. Make appropriate community referrals in coordination with the mental health treatment team. Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of all patient contacts, progress notes, discharge plans, forms, reports, and other required records. Attend supervision meetings and participate in required in-service training and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Appropriate education, licensure, certification, and/or credentialing required for the position and scope of practice. Ability to provide behavioral health services within established professional standards, applicable regulations, and organizational policies. Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Experience providing mental health services, case management, individual counseling, or group interventions is preferred. Experience working with justice-involved, correctional, or high-acuity populations is a plus.
