Position Overview The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) provides substance use disorder treatment and recovery support services under the required clinical supervision of a licensed independent clinician (LICDC/LICDC-CS). Services are delivered according to individualized treatment plans and within scope of practice as defined by the Ohio Administrative Code and the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. This role does not practice independently and does not provide clinical supervision. Key Responsibilities Service Delivery (Under Supervision) Provide individual and group counseling services under licensed clinical supervision Facilitate or co-facilitate group counseling and psychoeducation sessions Support clients in working toward treatment plan goals using evidence-based interventions Participate in scheduled supervision, case reviews, and treatment team meetings Documentation & Compliance Complete clinical documentation in the EHR, including: Substance use disorder assessments Treatment plans Individual and group progress notes Discharge summaries Submit documentation timely for required supervisory review and co-signature Follow all agency policies and regulatory documentation standards Professional Standards Maintain professional boundaries and model recovery-oriented behavior Protect client rights, confidentiality, and privacy at all times Comply with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements What This Role Is Not This role does not practice independently This role does not provide clinical supervision This role does not serve as the sole signer on documentation requiring independent licensure Qualifications Required Active CDCA certification issued by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board Ability to work under required clinical supervision Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Preferred Experience in outpatient substance use disorder or behavioral health treatment Familiarity with Medicaid, OhioMHAS, or CARF-aligned service environments Why Join Helping Hands Community Health Structured supervision and clinical support Clear scope of practice and role expectations Compliance-focused organization with professional standards Opportunity to grow within a regulated behavioral health setting This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals seeking recovery from chemical dependency.
