Clinical Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Counselor provides direct educational, supportive services, and groups to youth and adults in the residential and outreach programs for individuals impacted by Domestic and Sexual Violence. This position is responsible for understanding and promoting the mission and values of the Violence Free Futures. This is a non-exempt professional position.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Direct Services

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for youth and adults based on client need, and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
• Provide individual therapy to Residential and Outreach clients;
• Coordinate services and referrals with community providers to support clients' mental health, safety, and stability.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and support groups focused on healing, parenting, healthy relationships, and recovery from trauma (Healthy Homes & Family Focus (adults), and Smiles (youth)).
• Promote the development of healthy, nonviolent family relationships and positive coping skills.
• Participate in weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team and Safe Housing Review Team.
• Document case activity in each client's record in Osnium and Therapy Notes, as necessary per mental health standards.
• Complete monthly statistics on individual and group work. 2. Responsible for agency records
• Maintain up-to-date Clinical Records on clients and documentation per mental health standards;
• Adhere to Mental Health Certification Standards in conjunction with Performance Improvement Committee; and
• Participate in the Performance Improvement Committee. 3. Secondary Responsibilities
• Participate as an After-Hours Supervisor on the team (rotating 1 week with the other supervisors. Apx 6-8 weeks a year total).
• Provide training and education regarding impact of domestic and sexual violence on children and families for other professionals in the community, and represent the agency as assigned in community task forces.
• Adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
• Other appropriate duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of trauma, domestic & sexual violence, and recovery-oriented care.
• Ability to engage effectively with clients across age groups, backgrounds, and identities.
• Strong group facilitation and individual counseling skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate and complete case documentation.
• Familiarity with community resources and ability to collaborate with service providers.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Capacity to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during crises.
• Proficiency with computers and documentation software.
• Commitment to ethical practice and continuous professional growth.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to be actively sitting, standing, bending, stooping, running, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Must be able to see to the needs of children including feeding, comforting, lifting, changing diapers, and simple first aid. Must be able to go up and down stairs, sit on the floor, and to accomplish tasks that require reaching, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is generally indoors and some outdoors. The environment is a residential living facility and may include interacting with multiple children of all ages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling and at minimum 2 years of experience in direct contact with children and parents, trauma, or related field.

LISW/LPCC

NORMAL WORK HOURS

Full-time (40 hours/week), primarily days, some evenings and (limited) weekend work may be requested
