Job Description
Job Overview Peace and Harmony House is seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Recovery Specialist to join our team. In this essential role, you will provide peer support and advocacy to individuals navigating recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. Your lived experience, combined with professional training, will help inspire hope, strengthen resilience, and support long‑term wellness within diverse communities. Ensuring services are delivered in accordance with OMHSAS, DDAP, Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH), Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB), and agency standards. Duties Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals navigating recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients' engagement in treatment plans and recovery goals Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and foster trust with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds Conduct crisis management and intervention when clients are experiencing mental health or behavioral crises Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement individualized recovery plans that incorporate harm reduction strategies Maintain strict confidentiality of client information while documenting progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems Advocate for clients' needs within the community, connecting them with appropriate resources and support services Qualifications Certified as a Recovery Specialist or Peer Support Advocate, with relevant state or national certification required Demonstrated experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions Strong skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support Knowledge of harm reduction principles, addiction counseling, and social work practices Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence Excellent client communication skills, including active listening and motivational interviewing techniques Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and case management Sharing personal recovery experiences is highly valued to foster connection and hope among clients
