As a mental health counselor based in Port Orchard, Washington, you will collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and parents to foster a supportive and safe environment for students. You'll utilize digital platforms to conduct therapy sessions, ensuring that students receive consistent and reliable support, regardless of their circumstances. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments, utilizing standardized tools and observation to identify student needs and craft personalized treatment plans. Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to students, including individual therapy sessions, family counseling, and crisis intervention strategies. Facilitate psychoeducational workshops and support groups within the school, creating spaces for students to discuss mental health topics openly. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, educational staff, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care for students. Respond promptly to mental health emergencies, offering immediate support and referrals to appropriate resources when necessary. Educate students, parents, and staff about mental health issues, strategies for coping, and available resources within the community. Maintain meticulous records of assessment, treatment plans, and patient progress to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. Engage in regular case consultations and professional development opportunities to continually enhance your skills and professional effectiveness. Patient Population / Client Focus You will primarily serve school-aged children and adolescents facing various mental health challenges. This age group may experience unique stressors relating to academic pressures, social interactions, and family dynamics. Your work will involve addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, and trauma, helping to equip students with healthy coping mechanisms and resilience strategies. Qualifications A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Current and valid licensure as an LMHC, LICSW, or LMFT in Washington State. Demonstrated expertise in mental health assessment and treatment, with a strong understanding of developmental psychology and therapeutic approaches. Ability to build rapport with children and adolescents, employing effective communication and engagement strategies tailored to their developmental needs. Experience in counseling diverse populations, prioritizing cultural competence and inclusion in practice. Proficient in using telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems to document services and interact with clients. Preferred Experience At least three years of direct clinical experience in a mental health setting, preferably working with children and adolescents. A history of developing and facilitating therapeutic workshops or group interventions within school environments. Experience with crisis intervention and collaboration with educators and other community resources. Compensation and Benefits The salary for this full-time position ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
