Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals facing mental health challenges, working closely with patients to promote their well-being and recovery. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic interventions and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients. Duties Developing and implementation of individualized treatment plans. Conduct patient assessments and document observations accurately in medical records. Provide direct support to patients, including crisis intervention and behavior management. Facilitate individual and family therapy sessions, utilizing therapuetic techniques. Support children and families through child & family counseling, ensuring a nurturing approach to patient care. Engage in crisis management strategies to de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information. Participate in intake assessments and assist with diagnostic evaluations using
DSM5/DSM5TR
coding systems. Document medical terminology accurately while maintaining up-to-date medical records. Qualifications Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work Licensed in Iowa in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders. Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities in counseling is highly desirable. Previous hospital or clinic experience is beneficial; experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is a plus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients of all ages, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Knowledge of telehealth practices is advantageous as we adapt to modern healthcare delivery methods. A background in social work or related fields is preferred; relevant certifications or training in crisis intervention techniques are a plus. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating empathy and respect for diverse populations.
