Overview General Mental Health Services (GMHS) is seeking a fully bilingual (English/Spanish) Mental Health Counselor Intern interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience within a multidisciplinary psychiatric practice. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) while developing experience in psychotherapy, clinical assessments, treatment planning, behavioral health documentation, and collaborative patient care. The position combines in-person clinical experience at our Miramar office with telehealth services , as appropriate. For eligible candidates pursuing Florida licensure, GMHS may also provide qualified clinical supervision toward applicable licensure requirements , subject to Florida Board requirements. Fully bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Duties Provide mental health counseling and psychotherapy services under appropriate clinical supervision , within the intern's permitted scope. Participate in biopsychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations. Assist with the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans. Apply evidence-based therapeutic interventions under supervision. Document patient encounters, progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans accurately and timely in the EHR. Monitor patient progress and discuss clinical findings with the supervising clinician. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, LMHCs, LCSWs, and other members of the clinical team. Participate in case discussions, treatment planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Recognize and immediately report crisis situations, safety concerns, or changes in a patient's condition to the appropriate supervising clinician. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, ethical standards, and GMHS policies. Participate in in-person services at our Miramar office and telehealth services , as permitted and appropriate. Attend required clinical supervision and use feedback to develop professional counseling skills. Pay:
