Work Environment Our outpatient office in Pasco, Washington, serves as a hub for collaboration among healthcare professionals dedicated to geriatric mental wellness. While the counselor will primarily work remotely, periodic in-person engagements with colleagues and clients may be required. The organization promotes a flexible work arrangement, balancing between remote client care and on-site team strategies, ensuring that mental health interventions are effectively implemented. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents to identify individual emotional and psychological needs, guiding treatment and support plans. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions designed to help clients cope with the challenges of aging, including depression, anxiety, loss, and life transitions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, social workers, and nursing staff—to create and monitor personalized care plans that enhance the well-being of our geriatric residents. Provide education to staff and family members on effective strategies to support the emotional and mental health needs of older adults, fostering improved communication and understanding. Lead grief and loss counseling sessions for both residents and their families, offering a compassionate approach to navigating end-of-life issues. Implement evidence-based cognitive stimulation programs aimed at improving mental acuity and overall quality of life among elderly clients. Patient Population / Client Focus The primary focus of this role lies in effectively serving the geriatric population, including older adults coping with various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other age-related challenges. The counselor's empathetic and culturally sensitive approach will be essential in providing tailored care to seniors from diverse backgrounds, addressing not only their psychological needs but also respecting their unique life experiences and cultural values. Qualifications Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution. Valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington. A minimum of four years of direct experience providing mental health counseling focused on the geriatric population. Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based interventions for mental wellness in seniors. Strong assessment and treatment planning skills, with an emphasis on personalized care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills tailored to build trust with older adults. Preferred Experience Additional training or certification in geriatric mental health, addiction counseling, or related fields. Experience with grief counseling and end-of-life care strategies. Familiarity with mental health trends and resources specifically aimed at the elderly demographic. Proficiency in using telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHR) systems for client documentation and care coordination. Compensation and Benefits The position offers a competitive salary ranging from
USD 65,000
to 95,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with a sign-on bonus.
