United Counseling Service of Bennington County, a nonprofit community mental health agency, is seeking an Emergency Clinician to provide crisis assessment, intervention, and short term stabilization for children, adults, and families across Bennington County. In this mission driven, client centered role, you will evaluate risk, develop safety plans, and coordinate immediate care in clinic, community, and telehealth settings. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will partner with psychiatrists, medical providers, schools, hospitals, and law enforcement to connect clients to ongoing services. On call and flexible scheduling, including some evenings and weekends, are required. Responsibilities Provide crisis assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies Conduct risk evaluations for suicide, self-harm, and violence; develop immediate safety plans Deliver short-term counseling and stabilization services in clinic, community, or telehealth settings Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, hospitals, law enforcement, and community partners Document assessments, interventions, and care plans in the electronic health record promptly and accurately Participate in on call/emergency coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned Coordinate referrals and warm handoffs to ongoing outpatient, inpatient, or community services Engage families and natural supports in safety planning and follow up care Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations Maintain licensure, credentials, and compliance with agency, state, and federal regulations Required Skills Crisis assessment and intervention Suicide and violence risk assessment Safety planning and crisis stabilization Clinical interviewing and diagnostic formulation Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Trauma-informed care Motivational interviewing Case management and care coordination Knowledge of community mental health and substance use resources Interdisciplinary team collaboration
