This position helps youth and families navigate acute behavioral health needs during inpatient treatment. The role supports assessment, treatment, stabilization, and discharge planning while helping maintain a safe therapeutic environment on the unit. Primary Responsibilities :
- Complete documentation for newly admitted clients and gather information needed to support individualized treatment planning.
- Develop and maintain treatment plans for voluntary and involuntary residents.
- Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and contribute to treatment planning and implementation.
- Ensure treatment plans address unmet acute needs and remain individualized throughout hospitalization.
- Develop discharge plans and coordinate follow-up services, including required appointments.
- Collaborate with referral sources and community providers to support continuity of care after discharge.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy services.
- Complete screenings, assessments, intakes, and discharge activities.
- Obtain information from families related to client history, court involvement, finances, and discharge planning needs.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation.
- Provide clinical supervision and education to milieu staff as requested.
- Complete and sign ITA documentation and participate in court proceedings as required.
- Authorize discharges and provide clinical oversight in the unit manager's absence as permitted by WAC requirements.
- Handle authorized client information in accordance with HIPAA requirements and agency policy.
- Complete all required confidentiality and privacy training.
Minimum Qualifications :
EDUCATION
Master's degree in psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or must meet waiver criteria of
RCW 71.24.260. EXPERIENCE
Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience) Two years of postgraduate, documented, and supervised clinical experience in providing services to individuals and families.
LICENSURE
Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in
WAC 388-877-0500.
Qualified as Child Mental Health Specialist as defined in
WAC 182-538D-0200.
Must maintain a Washington State Department of Health license in good standing
Preferred Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE
Experience in providing services to youth and families; experience in therapeutic residential treatment settings. Substance Abuse Disorders treatment knowledge and experience necessary with certification.
LICENSURE
Ability to obtain or currently possess a Washington State associate or independent clinical license (LICSW-A, LMHC-A, LMFT-A, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT). Alternatively, must meet and maintain the definition of a Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC) as defined in
RCW 18.19.215.
Must maintain a Washington State Department of Health license in good standing [MG1] .
Performance Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE
Maintain a working knowledge of current community mental health trends, including health care reform, current assessment, the treatment approach for clients with co-occurring disorders, and behavioral health medications. Experience with the theory and practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and co-occurring substance use disorders
SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills. Communicates clearly and concisely. The ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.
ABILITIES
Ability to deescalate potentially volatile situations with clients. Ability to react quickly and perceive environmental stimuli accurately. Ability to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.

Office, inpatient treatment facility.
Mental/Physical Requirements :
While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers. Reach with arms, talk, and listen. Peripheral vision is also required for this position. Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
