Job Description
General Description:
- Forensic Competency Therapist provides factual and rational therapy techniques to forensic patients in jail based or (outpatient) community settings. Responsibilities to include but not limited to identifying and assessing each patient's illness/behavior/treatment needs; assist with treatment planning in coordination with Department of Corrections Medical/Psychiatric provider or community mental health centers and assist patients with obtaining competency to move forward with the courts. This position will work remotely and independently in a regional jail(s) setting for Forensic Services, with travel requirements possible. Provide therapy services and education within the assigned jail(s) to IST-R (restorable) patients on the waitlist for competency restoration services at Sharpe Hospital. Communicate with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the contracted providers for medical and psychiatric services.Participate in circuit court hearings for patients to provide testimony of services provided. Document on all services provided within the record(s). This position will be a liaison for Forensic Services.
