Full Time Position Summary:
The 31N Mental Health Professional will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation and monitoring of high-quality prevention and therapeutic services for secondary students. The position will be working within the State of Michigan 31N grant that enables school districts to provide mental health support to general education students experiencing mild to moderate emotional and psychological challenges. The 31N Mental Health Professional will meet with students, families and staff to provide education, assessment, consultation and short-term treatment. The 31N Mental Health Professional will provide best-practice behavioral health interventions with individuals and groups.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer a behavioral health assessment including the use of screening tools, as indicated, to determine a student's needs for psychological, health or related services. Provide behavioral health interventions to enhance the psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive and social factors important for the prevention, treatment or management of behavioral health concerns. Partner with Parent Liaison to assure referrals to community and inpatient services are made appropriately, and that all health care and community resources are provided according to need Ensure ongoing communication between school staff, outpatient care providers, and families in order to support the Whole Child. Assist students with crisis and follow through with crisis intervention plans Collaborate with Student Services Teams and administrators regarding student needs, behavior data, and service implementation through regular meetings and consultation. Participate in 31N related training and collaborative efforts on a district, county and state level. Ensure that clinical documentation is made in a timely manner and includes scope, duration, and services provided, including, but not limited to, intake assessments, person-centered Plan of Care, monthly summaries, releases of information, consent forms and discharge summaries with input. Assess the effectiveness of delivered services toward achieving student-driven goals and objectives through data-driven review. Participate in district-wide PBIS team meetings, and contribute to building and district PBIS practices and ongoing planning.
Requirements:
A combination of education and experience which results in the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. One of the following endorsements is required: psychiatrist, licensed master's level psychologist, limited license master's level psychologist, licensed master's level professional counselor, limited licensed master's level professional counselor, licensed master's level social worker, licensed master's level school social worker, limited license master's level social worker, BCBA, BCaBA. Full licensure by the State of Michigan within their profession is preferred, Limited Licensure can be considered. Minimum of two professional years of progressively responsible experience in mental health related field using best practice clinical treatment for adolescents is preferred.
