Both parents have demanding professional careers, and one will typically work from home. They have a separate, dedicated workspace and are very mindful of allowing their nanny the autonomy and space needed to move comfortably through the day with their son. Their goal is to create a respectful environment where everyone can coexist and do their jobs in harmony. Safety is exceptionally important to this family and will always come first. They are looking for someone equally conscientious who exercises good judgment, understands infant safety, and approaches their work with maturity and common sense. During the early months, much of the position will naturally be home-based. The parents understand that their son's world will gradually expand as he gets older and want a nanny who appreciates this stage rather than feeling the need to constantly be on the go. They value a caregiver who narrates everyday experiences, reads, sings, asks questions, and actively engages with him to encourage early communication and language development. As he gets older, his parents intend to use gentle, age-appropriate communication and natural consequences to establish healthy boundaries. They want their son treated as a whole person whose feelings and experiences matter, while still receiving the structure and guidance young children need.
THE INFANT SON
| Their son is a sweet, easygoing 4-month-old who is currently exclusively breastfed. When Mom returns to work at the end of the month, the family anticipates gradually transitioning him to a combination of breast milk and formula. He is already a strong nighttime sleeper, typically going down around 9 PM and sleeping for a six- to seven-hour stretch. He generally wakes around 6 AM for a feeding before settling back down for another couple of hours. During the day, he takes several shorter naps, typically lasting 30-45 minutes each. Over the coming months, he will enter several exciting developmental stages. The family plans to slowly introduce solids next month, so they would especially value a nanny who is knowledgeable and confident in this transition. As he grows, they want someone who can continue supporting his evolving needs, from developmental milestones and language development to introducing age-appropriate independence and, eventually, potty training.
THE JOB DETAILS
| The nanny's primary focus will be providing exceptional, attentive care for the family's son while creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally enriching environment. During these early months, much of the day will be spent at home, with the role naturally evolving to include more activities and opportunities for exploration as he grows.
Responsibilities include:
Providing attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care, with safety always the highest priority. Preparing breast milk, formula, and bottles; feeding, burping, soothing, and diapering. Cleaning and sanitizing bottles and feeding supplies. Washing and putting away the child's laundry, including clothing, crib sheets, sleep sacks, bibs, and towels. Keeping the nursery, play areas, and feeding/changing stations tidy, organized, and well-stocked. Supporting developmental milestones through tummy time, sensory play, floor play, reading, singing, talking, and age-appropriate activities. Supporting the transition to solids and preparing simple, age-appropriate meals and snacks. Taking initiative with the child's daily needs and responsibilities while respecting the parents' routines and preferences. Sharing a helpful debrief with the parents at the end of each shift regarding naps, feeding, activities, and noteworthy developments. Adapting alongside the child as he moves through infancy and toddlerhood, including supporting language development, independence, developmental milestones, and eventually potty training.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
| The ideal candidate is an experienced career nanny with a minimum of five years of professional experience caring for infants and toddlers. Above all else, this family wants someone who takes safety seriously. They are thoughtful, straightforward parents and will thrive with a nanny who demonstrates excellent judgment, follows established safety practices, and understands the responsibility that comes with caring for a young child. They are looking for someone warm, friendly, positive, and genuinely happy in their chosen profession. A sense of humor is important, as is being a collaborative team player who can comfortably receive feedback and direction. The ideal nanny understands healthy professional boundaries and recognizes that a successful nanny-family relationship requires communication, mutual respect, and trust. Because these are first-time parents, they would love someone who brings meaningful experience and knowledge to the relationship without being overbearing. THE SCHEDULE
| The family's standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. As their relationship with their nanny develops, the family also anticipates occasionally requesting date-night or weekend coverage. This will not be an immediate expectation and would always be discussed in advance, but flexibility for additional hours would be a wonderful bonus.
THE RATE
