Job Description

THE ORGANIZATION
St. Vincent's is a Roman Catholic organization sponsored and operated by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides programs for children, families, and seniors that are based on community needs. St. Vincent's is the longest continuously operating human service agency in Santa Barbara. St. Vincent's began operations in 1858.
PURPOSE :
In accordance with the goals, objectives, and the Mission of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the Family Strengthening Program (FSP) Babysitter provides exceptional care and supervision to ensure the well-being of FSP children. The FSP Babysitter wil maintain a safe and nurturing environment and organize engaging activities for the children.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position reports directly to the Case Manager & Child Care Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a passion and commitment for the Mission and Vincentian Core Values of St. Vincent's and the Daughters of Charity. Create an atmosphere of enthusiasm and energetic commitment and serve as a role model in carrying out the Mission. Promote and support the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with each other as well as demonstrate the ability to address the needs of those that St. Vincent's serves. Must be able to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds. Entertain children with books, crafts, games, and other enriching activities. Change diapers and clothes if soiled; wash hands and face regularly. Dress children in shoes and appropriate outerwear for outdoor play. Keep the home clean and tidy, including cleaning spills. Maintain cottage in a clean and safe environment throughout the entire shift. Sanitize and clean common areas before the end of the shift. Help children with their homework as needed. Maintain excellent communication with supervisor and parents. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child; provide drinking water at all times. Communicate immediately with the Child Care Coordinator if issues arise, including but not limited to accidents, injuries, behavioral problems, illness, etc. Facilitate appropriate emergency procedures as needed. Arrive on time and remain on the shift for entire duration. Must inform supervisor 24 hours in advance if unable to work shift. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current First Aid/CPR/AED for Pediatric, Infants, and Adults Certification required. Must be 18+ years of age at time of hire. Must be available Tuesdays from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-oriented skills. Ability to work independently with a strong level of organizational skills. Is proactive and conscientious in follow-through with job requirements. Possess the ability to generate enthusiasm and inspire confidence. Must demonstrate personal identity with and commitment to the mission and values of St. Vincent's Must pass a criminal background fingerprint check and a pre-employment negative TB test. The
COVID-19
vaccination is a requirement for this position. Schedule - Must be available Tuesdays from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and/or depending on the needs of the department.

$20 hourly
