Job Description

Job description: This position is onsite in the greater Santa Monica area. Relocation expenses are not provided.
Who We Are:
Our every action is a love letter to the world. Our Mission is to BOOST people to be their best selves so we can improve the world together. Sound ambitious? We believe we can achieve it if we work together because no one can succeed alone — which is why we need you! Are you ready?
Who You Are:
We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Nanny and Early Childhood Educator to support the cognitive, language, social, and physical development of our toddler. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in early childhood development or a related field, with hands-on experience in applying research-based learning methods tailored to infants. This role requires a proactive, patient, and discreet individual who is passionate about fostering early developmental skills and creating a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment for the child. You are an educator at heart, dedicated to the early years of childhood development. You're well-versed in the developmental milestones of toddlers and enjoy using a variety of methods to stimulate growth, including sensory play, guided interaction, and structured routines. You are a strong communicator who works well in partnership with parents, ensuring the family's goals are aligned with the child's developmental needs. Above all, you are flexible, calm, and creative in how you adapt to the evolving needs of both the infant and the family. You're an energetic, passionate self starter who wants to make a difference in the world. You're good at pivoting; remaining fast and flexible while sometimes wearing multiple hats (or even the entire wardrobe). You thrive under pressure and are driven by results. You're accountable and responsible to yourself and those around you, and able to check your ego at the door. You're a problem solver and critical thinker with a solution and action oriented mindset. You're able to take instruction and feedback as well as give it with stellar verbal and written communication skills. And, most importantly, you're ready to invest and grow within our company. We always have plenty of opportunities — you are your only limit!
What You'll Do:
Toddler Cognitive and Physical Development:
Implement research-backed Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or Pikler methods tailored for toddlers, focusing on self-led exploration and discovery. Design activities that encourage sensory exploration, such as tactile play (e.g., textured fabrics, sensory bins), auditory engagement (e.g., music, rhythm toys), and visual stimulation (e.g., high-contrast images). Promote gross motor development through age-appropriate activities. Develop fine motor skills through activities like grasping exercises, object manipulation, and hand-eye coordination games using simple toys like stacking blocks, grasping beads, and finger puppets.
Developmental Milestones:
Track and record cognitive, language, physical, and social milestones (e.g., babbling, object permanence, crawling) using developmental checklists and observation notes. Adjust activities and introduce new learning opportunities that align with the toddlers progress, ensuring that the child's learning remains developmentally appropriate. Provide parents with detailed reports on milestones, progress, and areas for growth, using tools like milestone tracking apps or written progress journals.
Early Education Planning:
Design and execute a customized toddler curriculum, introducing early learning concepts such as object recognition, language acquisition, and early socialization. Use repetition and multi-sensory learning to build familiarity with concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, and sounds, while encouraging problem-solving through cause-and-effect play. Engage in daily language development activities, such as reading aloud, singing, naming objects, and encouraging the infant's babbling and first words through interactive conversation. Develop routines that introduce emotional intelligence and social skills, such as recognizing facial expressions, gentle touch, and turn-taking through play.
Social and Emotional Development:
Facilitate the toddlers early social-emotional development by encouraging interactions with caregivers, promoting secure attachment, and fostering early communication skills. Use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to manage emotions, such as soothing the child through calm verbal reassurances, soft touch, and providing comfort items (e.g., blankets, favorite toys). Household Duties Related to
Education:
Organize the learning environment to support exploration and safety, including rotating educational toys and creating spaces that stimulate curiosity while ensuring the area is baby-proofed. Prepare educational materials that align with the toddlers developmental stage, such as soft books, sensory toys, and puzzles. Ensure that all educational toys and learning tools are cleaned, sanitized, and well-maintained.
Parental Communication:
Maintain open and transparent communication with parents regarding the infant's learning and development, offering suggestions and feedback on educational approaches to use at home. Collaborate with parents to align educational and developmental goals, ensuring consistency in routines and reinforcement of learning experiences both in the home and during care.
Health & Safety:
Adhere to all infant care safety protocols, including safe sleep practices, childproofing, and first aid procedures. Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe, secure environment, and be vigilant about minimizing risks during play and exploration.
Confidentiality:
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the toddlers care, the family's routines, and any personal or household matters.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred). 3+ years of experience as an early childhood educator, specifically working with toddlers. Strong knowledge of child developmental milestones and methods such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar early childhood education approaches. Certification in childcare, first aid, and CPR (required). Bilingual in English, Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean. Compassionate, patient, and nurturing approach with a passion for fostering growth in toddlers. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail. The ability to adapt learning strategies to match the evolving needs of the child. Tech-savvy, with an interest in using educational apps and tracking tools. Flexible schedule with the ability to accommodate family needs, including potential weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
