$60,000•75,000 ($20K in Annual Bonuses) Job Summary Kid City USA•Cordera is seeking an experienced, organized, and motivated Child Care Center Director to lead the daily operations of our childcare center. The Child Care Center Director is responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and high-quality learning environment for children while providing leadership and accountability to the center's teaching and administrative staff. This position oversees staffing, enrollment, parent relationships, licensing compliance, employee performance, classroom quality, and the overall day-to-day operation of the center. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can support approximately 10-15 employees, build strong relationships with families, maintain compliance with Colorado childcare licensing requirements, and help increase enrollment and family retention. Duties and Responsibilities Center Operations and Leadership Oversee the daily operation of the childcare center. Ensure the center opens, operates, and closes safely and efficiently each day. Provide leadership, direction, and support to teachers, assistant teachers, administrative employees, kitchen staff, and other center personnel. Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented workplace. Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, professionalism, and assigned responsibilities. Address operational concerns promptly and communicate significant issues to the center owner. Assist in developing and implementing center procedures, systems, and performance standards. Ensure classrooms are properly staffed and operating according to required teacher-to-child ratios. Step into classrooms or other operational roles when necessary to maintain proper coverage and center operations. Staff Management and Development Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate center employees. Prepare and manage employee schedules based on enrollment, classroom needs, staffing availability, and licensing ratios. Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, timekeeping, and schedule compliance. Conduct regular employee meetings, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations. Provide employees with constructive feedback, training, and professional development opportunities. Address employee performance issues and implement corrective action when necessary. Help create a supportive work environment that improves employee morale and retention. Verify that employees complete all required training, background checks, certifications, and professional development. Maintain accurate employee records and qualification documents. Identify staffing needs and maintain appropriate staffing levels for each classroom. Licensing, Safety, and Compliance Maintain compliance with all Colorado childcare licensing rules and regulations. Ensure the center remains prepared for licensing inspections and other regulatory reviews. Maintain accurate and organized licensing, employee, child, training, attendance, and inspection records. Monitor classroom supervision, staff-to-child ratios, health practices, sanitation, and safety procedures. Ensure required background checks and employee qualification documents are completed and maintained. Review the center regularly for safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and licensing deficiencies. Correct compliance concerns promptly and document corrective actions. Ensure required emergency drills, incident reports, medication records, attendance records, and safety procedures are completed properly. Report serious incidents, suspected child abuse or neglect, injuries, licensing concerns, and other required matters in accordance with applicable laws and center policies. Ensure children are always properly supervised and released only to authorized individuals. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, employees, and center operations. Enrollment and Family Relationships Provide tours to prospective families and clearly explain the center's programs, curriculum, policies, tuition, and enrollment process. Follow up with prospective families after inquiries and tours. Support center enrollment goals by converting qualified leads into enrolled families. Maintain accurate enrollment records, waitlists, classroom availability, and family information. Build positive and professional relationships with current and prospective families. Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's experience, classroom activities, development, and center updates. Respond promptly and professionally to parent questions, concerns, and complaints. Work to improve family satisfaction and child retention. Assist families with enrollment documents and required records. Support families participating in CCCAP, Child Care Aware, or other childcare assistance programs when applicable. Coordinate family events, parent communication, and center engagement activities. Educational Program and Classroom Quality Ensure classrooms provide a safe, nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Monitor the implementation of the center's approved curriculum. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to teaching staff. Ensure lesson plans, classroom schedules, learning activities, and child assessments are completed as required. Support teachers with classroom management, behavior concerns, curriculum implementation, and parent communication. Promote curriculum-based learning through developmentally appropriate instruction and play. Ensure classrooms are clean, organized, properly supplied, and visually welcoming. Monitor the quality of interactions between employees and children. Help employees create an environment where children feel safe, supported, respected, and encouraged to learn. Address classroom quality concerns promptly and develop improvement plans when necessary. Administrative and Financial Responsibilities Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, tuition, attendance, staffing, payroll, licensing, and center operations. Review employee time records and assist with payroll preparation. Monitor tuition accounts and communicate with families regarding past-due balances according to center policy. Manage center supplies and submit purchasing requests when needed. Help control staffing and operational expenses while maintaining program quality and licensing compliance. Prepare regular reports regarding enrollment, staffing, licensing, employee performance, family concerns, and center operations. Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial performance goals. Protect confidential business, employee, child, and family information. Complete administrative assignments accurately and within required deadlines. Marketing and Community Engagement Represent Kid City USA•Cordera professionally within the community. Help promote the center through tours, community events, family referrals, social media content, and local partnerships. Develop relationships with nearby businesses, schools, organizations, and community programs. Support enrollment campaigns, promotional offers, and special center events. Encourage positive family reviews, referrals, and community involvement. Maintain a professional and welcoming appearance throughout the center. Minimum Qualifications Must meet Colorado's qualification requirements for a Director of a Large Child Care Center. Current Colorado PDIS-recognized director qualifications or the ability to obtain approval before beginning the position. Must have at least 2 years as a Director, Co-Director, or Assistant Director. Strong understanding of childcare licensing, classroom operations, staffing ratios, and employee supervision. Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification before employment. Ability to complete and pass all required criminal background checks. Ability to complete all required Colorado childcare training. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, leadership, customer-service, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced childcare environment. Basic computer skills, including email, scheduling, document management, and childcare management software. Must be dependable, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of experience as a Child Care Center Director, Assistant Director, or comparable childcare administrator. Experience supervising 10 or more employees. Experience with Colorado childcare licensing inspections and compliance. Experience increasing childcare enrollment and improving family retention. Experience with CCCAP, Child Care Aware, Colorado Shines, or similar childcare programs. Experience hiring, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining employees. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Business Administration, or a related field. Salary Based on Qualification $60,000 + $20,000 in Bonuses At least 2 years as a Director or At least 4 years as a Assist Director or Co-Director $65,000 + $20,000 in Bonuses At least 4 years as a Director or At least 6 years as a Assist Director or Co-Director $75,000 + $20,000 in Bonuses At least 6 years as a Director or At least 8 years as a Assist Director or Co-Director Physical Requirements Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the childcare center. Ability to sit on the floor and interact with children when needed. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
