They have two wonderful children:
a bright and curious 4-year-old daughter and a sweet, easygoing 18-month-old son . Their daughter has been diagnosed with high-functioning autism and ADHD . She is exceptionally bright, highly verbal, and thrives with structure, encouragement, and individualized support. (Years ago, many children with a similar presentation would have received a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome.) She currently receives ABA therapy, and the family is looking for a nanny who is excited to become part of that collaborative team by reinforcing strategies, celebrating progress, and helping her continue to thrive. Their 18-month-old son is described as a calm, affectionate little boy who loves exploring the world around him. Since his sister attends school during the day, he will be the nanny's primary focus for the coming year. Once he begins a part-day preschool program next year, the role will naturally evolve to include additional household management responsibilities while the children are in school. The children's grandmother lives with the family for part of the year, creating a warm, multigenerational household. Mom works in New York City several days each week, and the family is looking for someone who enjoys becoming a trusted extension of the parents while helping the household run smoothly. Responsibilities Provide loving, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for the 18-month-old Support the 4-year-old before and after school and reinforce routines and strategies recommended by her therapy team Plan engaging activities including reading, outdoor play, sensory activities, arts and crafts, and educational experiences Foster confidence, independence, communication, and emotional regulation Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children Children's laundry and organization Keep children's bedrooms and play areas tidy and organized Drive children to school, activities, appointments, and outings as needed As the younger child begins preschool, transition into a greater house management role, including: Household organization Grocery shopping and errands Children's supplies and inventory Meal preparation as needed Helping keep the household organized and running efficiently No deep cleaning is required. The Ideal Candidate This family is looking for someone who is: Warm, patient, and emotionally intelligent Curious and excited to continue learning about child development Comfortable collaborating with therapists and implementing recommended strategies Organized, proactive, and dependable Engaging and creative with young children Calm under pressure and able to provide consistent routines Interested in building a long-term relationship with one family Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, developmental differences, or ABA programs is appreciated, but the family is equally excited to meet candidates who are eager to learn and become an active member of their daughter's support team.
