Job Purpose:

As a Childcare Attendant at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the well-being and development of each child, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and monitor the safety of children in your care at all times. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns. Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring all materials and equipment are safe and in good condition. Implement and follow all YMCA policies and procedures related to childcare and safety. Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive team environment. Attend training sessions and meetings to continually improve skills and knowledge in childcare practices.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Experience:

Prior experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting. Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities for children. Experience in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff. Ability to engage and motivate children through creative and educational activities. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices. Ability to maintain a positive and patient demeanor in a dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
