Mother is a stay-at-home parent who is actively involved with the children, making this a collaborative role where the nanny will work closely alongside her to help keep the children's days organized, happy, and running smoothly. The family has a lively and active lifestyle with a unique seasonal rhythm due to Father's professional baseball career. They are looking for someone who will enjoy becoming a trusted part of family life, is comfortable with both busy periods and quieter stretches, and can easily adapt as the family's schedule changes throughout the year. Schedule & Seasonal Expectations The position has two distinct seasons throughout the year. Offseason | Mid-October through February The offseason is primarily based in Leawood and offers a lighter, more predictable schedule. The nanny will typically work five days per week, approximately eight hours per day, with many days being shorter and only occasional longer days. Baseball Season | February through Mid-October During baseball season, the schedule follows Father's team and travel schedule and will require greater flexibility. Father is on the road approximately 85 nights throughout the season, with a typical rhythm of a homestand followed by a road trip. When Father is traveling, the nanny will be an important source of support for Mother and should expect longer days and more consecutive workdays. Road trips vary in length, ranging from shorter three-day trips to occasional trips of approximately ten days. When the team is home, the schedule becomes lighter, allowing for shorter days and additional time off. The family is very mindful of creating downtime following busier stretches so the nanny has time to rest and recharge. Some domestic travel with the family will also be required during the season. The nanny will have a private bedroom and bathroom while traveling. The family asks that planned vacation, whenever possible, be scheduled outside of Father's road trips. They understand that unexpected circumstances arise and simply appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Primary Responsibilities Partner with Mother in caring for and supporting the children throughout the day Provide attentive, engaging, and age-appropriate childcare Help manage school schedules, activities, appointments, outings, and daily routines Transport children to and from school, activities, appointments, and other commitments Assist with children's meals and snacks Assist with children's laundry, organization, and keeping their spaces tidy Help the oldest two children stay on top of schoolwork while traveling during baseball season Coordinate and maintain the family calendar Run family-related errands and help keep household and children's essentials stocked and organized Assist with packing, unpacking, and preparing the children for travel Help maintain routines and organization while the family is traveling Provide light household support related to the children and daily family life Anticipate needs and comfortably step in wherever an extra set of capable hands is most helpful Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced career nanny who is warm, calm, organized, proactive, and genuinely enjoys being part of a busy family.
