Job Description

Positions open at Garfield Elementary School and Early Education Center; 2:00-5:30pm Monday-Friday Bonus pay of up to $4.00/hour in addition to hourly rate of pay. Alexandria Public Schools Community Education offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs throughout the year. Community Education is looking for creative, energetic, and personable people who have a passion for families and have outstanding customer service skills to join our dynamic team. Compass is Alexandria Community Education's school-age care program, providing before and afterschool, non-school day and summer care for students PreK-6th Grade. Site Leader is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and well-organized program for school-age children. This role includes overseeing daily operations, providing exceptional customer service, supervising staff, and fostering a positive learning environment. The Site Leader is expected to build strong relationships with children, families, and staff and is committed to ensuring a safe, fun, and growth-oriented experience for all participants. Key Responsibilities Organize and maintain a smooth-functioning program that adheres to established policies and the Code of Conduct. Ensure materials for daily lesson plans are prepared and activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and developmentally beneficial. Communicate daily with parents about their child's positive behaviors, special observations, and any notable concerns. Maintain confidentiality for all children, families, and staff in the program. Accurately manage records including attendance logs, accident and incident reports, and behavior forms. Implement a responsible discipline policy and follow individual behavior plans. Promote teamwork and foster a positive image of the program both within the school and to the larger community. Attend all staff meetings and contribute to a positive team culture.
Qualifications:
Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a related field. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, parents, and staff. Ability to adapt to schedule changes and work independently with a high level of responsibility. CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
