After School Care Staff - Morris Plains About Us The Greater Morristown YMCA, founded in 1874, is rooted in the Christian values of honesty, respect, caring, and service to others. Position Summary We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and nurturing individuals to join our After School Care Program at Mountain Way and Borough Schools in Morris Plains, NJ; just minutes from the Greater Morristown YMCA. As an After School Care Staff member, you'll provide a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children in grades K-6 during afterschool hours.
Position Details Schedule:
Part-time, Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM - 6:00
PM Pay:
Starting at $18.00/hour
Location:
Mountain Way School and Borough School, Morris Plains, NJ Key Responsibilities Supervise and actively engage with children in daily activities both indoors and outdoors. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by following YMCA safety protocols. Serve as a positive role model, embodying the YMCA's core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Assist with daily arrival and dismissal procedures and maintain accurate attendance records. Organize and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities. Prepare program areas and materials for use; ensure spaces are clean and secure at the end of the day. Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's behavior, accomplishments, and daily activities. Be prepared to implement emergency procedures and report any accidents or incidents promptly. Attend all required YMCA trainings and staff meetings. Use the YMCA timekeeping system to accurately record hours worked. Be flexible to accommodate changes due to school closings, early dismissals, or morning care needs. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old (preferred). Prior experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting is strongly preferred. Ability to lead and participate in group activities such as sports, games, crafts, storytelling, and songs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a fun and structured environment while using positive discipline techniques. CPR and First Aid certification preferred (can be obtained upon hire).
