Long-Term Nanny / Family Assistant in
Summit, NJ Schedule :
Option 1: Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM -7:00 PM — 30 guaranteed hours per week Option 2: Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM-8:00 PM — 40 guaranteed hours per week For the 40-hour schedule, the family is looking for someone who can take full ownership of the household and family-assistant responsibilities and independently manage what needs to be done without regular reminders once they have become familiar with the family and household.

Family Assistant Commitment:
Family is seeking someone who can ideally stay for several years (7+) About the Family A warm, busy family with two fun and energetic boys, ages 7 and almost 5, is looking for an experienced, dependable, and genuinely caring Nanny / Family Assistant to become a long-term part of their household. Both parents have demanding full-time careers. Mom works in the office approximately 3-4 days per week and travels regularly for work, while Dad works in the office approximately 1-2 days per week. Because of their schedules, they are looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of the afternoon and help keep both the children and household organized without needing significant day-to-day direction.

Childcare Duties The Nanny/Family Assistant will pick up both children from school and safely transport them home and to activities as needed. After school, they will provide attentive and engaged care, help the children unpack and organize their backpacks, support homework and school responsibilities, and read with the children, particularly the older child, for approximately 10 minutes each day. The family is looking for someone who takes a genuine interest in the children's school days, activities, projects, and interests. The Nanny/Family Assistant should enjoy planning age-appropriate activities, playing and engaging with the boys, and encouraging age-appropriate independence. This includes helping the children learn to clean up after themselves, bring dishes to the kitchen, organize their belongings, and navigate sibling disagreements calmly and respectfully. Additional responsibilities include preparing and serving after-school snacks, preparing and serving dinner for the children approximately 4-5 evenings per week, and preparing school items for the following day, including lunches as needed, snacks, water bottles, backpacks, and library books. Regular communication with the parents through the family's shared text chain is also important. Household Responsibilities During school hours, the Nanny/Family Assistant will focus primarily on helping keep the household organized and prepared for the family. This includes maintaining a tidy and organized home, helping organize the children's bedrooms and belongings, coordinating the children's laundry service, completing additional household laundry as agreed upon, washing items such as bath mats as needed, and light ironing of the children's clothing and family clothing that is not dry-cleaned. Responsibilities will also include ordering groceries and maintaining household essentials, bringing in packages and putting delivered items away, keeping the kitchen and common areas tidy, cleaning up after meals, bringing the trash can out on Fridays, and keeping track of the children's schedules and important items using the family calendar. The Nanny/Family Assistant should be proactive in anticipating what the children and household will need for school, activities, meals, and the following day, with the goal of leaving the home organized and reset at the end of the workday. The family has a medium-large dog. Responsibilities include feeding her once per day, ensuring she has fresh, clean water, and letting her into the secured yard once or twice during the day. No dog walking is required. When the family is traveling during the Nanny/Family Assistant's regularly scheduled workdays, they may also be asked to feed the family's fish. Driving A family vehicle will be provided for work-related driving, along with a credit card for approved child-related expenses. The Nanny/Family Assistant must be a safe, responsible driver with a clean driving record. Requirements Candidates must have a minimum of three years of recent professional nanny experience, previous Family Assistant experience, and experience caring for preschool and school-aged children. They should be extremely professional, reliable, trustworthy, responsible, highly organized, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., have a valid driver's license and clean driving record, live within approximately 30 minutes of Summit, NJ, and be CPR & First Aid certified. They must also be comfortable with a medium-large dog and interested in making a long-term commitment to a family. They are trustworthy, proactive, organized, and able to confidently take ownership of both childcare and household responsibilities. The family is looking for someone dependable who communicates well and is excited to grow with them for many years.
